International Babywearing Conference: Des Moines, Iowa, 2018

This year, the Babywearing Conference was in Des Moines. Once Robert had gotten over his shock that I was, in fact, planning on dragging the entire family to Iowa, he got into the spirit of it and we had a great three-day weekend hanging out with friends from Oregon, California, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, Illinois, and New York. Downtown Des Moines had some surprisngly delicious and funky restaurants (not pictured here, but very notable, is Tacopocalypse, with its Korean fried chicken burrito and scrambled egg, chorizo, and tater tot burrito topped with sausage gravy), and between outings to the Science Center and a pioneer-era restoration town, interspersed with some babywearing sessions and some good long swims in the hotel pool, we all had a great time. The only negative was having to say goodbye--Samantha took it especially hard, as she'd really enjoyed playing with Elise and Maddie in particular.
